Teenage boy dies in e-bike crash in Wauconda

WAUCONDA, Ill. — A teenage boy has died after he was involved in a crash while riding an e-bike in the northwest suburbs. According to fire officials, the crash happened just before 10 p.m. Monday in the 500 block of North Main Street in Wauconda. Fire units arrived to the scene and found both an e-bike and an SUV with significant damage. Officials said the teen was lying in the roadway with life-threatening injuries and was transported to Condell Memorial Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead. His identity has not yet been released. Two occupants from the SUV were uninjured and released. The Wauconda Fire Department was assisted by police, who conducted an investigation with the Lake County Major Crash Assistance Team.
