Teen from Texas killed, another in critical condition when sled hits tree

A teenage girl from Frisco tragically passed away, and another girl was critically injured in a sledding accident that occurred on Saturday, January 24. The incident involved the girls riding on a sled that was being pulled by a vehicle. The sled hit a curb and crashed into a tree, leading to the emergency services being called just before 2:30 p.m. The police and fire departments arrived at the scene and tried life-saving efforts on the two 16-year-old girls. They were then transported to a local hospital, where one of them died from her injuries. The second girl remained in critical condition as of the following day. A 16-year-old boy was reported to have driven the Jeep Wrangler that was pulling the sleds, but the identities of the teens involved were not disclosed. The incident is currently under investigation, with help from the Denton County District Attorney's Office. The City of Frisco expressed its heartfelt sympathies to the affected families and friends in a press release, emphasizing its support during this challenging time. Officials issued a warning about the dangers of slippery surfaces due to snow and ice, advising the public to exercise caution, stay indoors whenever possible, and minimize unnecessary outdoor activities in wintry conditions.
