Teen from South LA dies in fireworks incident, says LAPD
A teenager in South Los Angeles tragically lost his life on Wednesday night when a fireworks device exploded in a backyard. Emergency responders were summoned to a residence in the Vermont Knolls neighborhood after neighbors heard a loud blast and saw smoke. Upon arrival, they discovered the 17-year-old victim with severe injuries, who later died at the hospital. No one else was harmed. Authorities suspect the explosion was caused by a malfunctioning homemade or high-powered firework, with a 357-shot aerial firework discovered at the scene. Due to the dangerous and illegal nature of the device, a bomb squad was called in to handle the remaining fireworks and debris. Local residents expressed shock and sorrow over the incident. The investigation is ongoing, with authorities yet to disclose the victim's identity or fully determine the type of explosive device involved.
