Teen dies in car accident and fire in New Kent County
An 18-year-old man tragically lost his life in a single-vehicle crash that resulted in a vehicle fire in New Kent County on Sunday afternoon. The incident occurred when a 2004 Dodge Ram 1500, driven by the young man identified as Gavin Awessew Adkins, veered off the left side of Route 60, hit a tree, overturned, and caught fire. The New Kent County Fire-Rescue team responded promptly to extinguish the fire. As per Virginia State Police reports, the driver was the sole occupant of the vehicle and was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the accident. The authorities are currently conducting an investigation into the crash.
