Taylor County crash claims life of Merkel man
TAYLOR COUNTY, Texas (KTAB/KRBC) - A fatal crash investigation is underway following a collision northeast of Merkel. The crash happened around 3:45 p.m. on May 11 at the intersection of FM 1235 and Wimberly Road. The preliminary investigation indicates a car was traveling south on Wimberly Road toward the intersection with FM 1235 when the driver failed to stop at a stop sign. The vehicle then entered the intersection and was struck by a pickup truck traveling eastbound on FM 1235. According to investigators, the pickup driver was not wearing a seatbelt and was ejected during the crash. The driver of the car suffered minor injuries. The pickup driver, identified as 62-year-old Steven Greg Anderson of Merkel, was pronounced dead at the scene.
