Springfield woman passes away following afternoon accident
An unfortunate incident occurred in Springfield, Ill. A 60-year-old woman tragically lost her life following a collision on Wabash Avenue on Tuesday. Sangamon County Coroner Jim Allmon confirmed that she was driving alone at the time of the accident and was pronounced deceased at the scene. The victim's identity is being kept private pending notification of her family members. An autopsy has been planned for Wednesday as the Sangamon County Coroner's Office conducts an investigation into the matter. Efforts to obtain further details from the Springfield Police Department by WCIA have not yet been successful.
