The incident occurred in the early hours of September 5, 2020, on N. Old Orchard Avenue where a pickup truck collided with 44-year-old Trampus Bell, leading to his fatal injuries. Springfield Police Department reported that officers found Waddell intoxicated at the crash scene, showing signs such as swaying, slurred speech, and a strong smell of alcohol. Subsequent tests revealed his blood alcohol level was above the legal limit.
