Speed blamed in fatal West El Paso car crash

EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) — A woman has died after a single-vehicle crash in West El Paso early Saturday morning, according to a release from the El Paso Police Department. EPPD Special Traffic Investigations Unit responded to a crash at the 400 block of Shadow Mountain, involving a Ford Escape. Police stated that the driver, identified as 25-year-old Missy Roberta Aguilar, was pronounced dead at the scene. Officials reported that the SUV was driving northbound, failed to negotiate a curve, and struck a curb. The hit caused the SUV to go over a business landscape. The vehicle then struck a metal trash container and two rock walls, police said. The passengers of the vehicle, 25-year-old Jennifer Campos and 25-year-old Jonathan Rizo, were taken to the hospital with injuries. Police identified speed as a main contributing factor to the crash. The case is under investigation.
