Spate of accidents in Charlotte due to heavy snowfall; Gastonia truck struck by train, multiple car collisions
Snowfall has caused multiple accidents in the Charlotte region, with more expected as forecasters predict up to 10 inches of snow in certain areas. The Charlotte-Douglas International Airport was also affected, facing delays and cancellations. In Gastonia, incidents included a tractor-trailer cab being hit by a train, although the driver managed to escape. Other crashes were reported in the area, partly due to icy conditions underneath the fresh snow. Additional accidents occurred in Charlotte, such as a major crash that resulted in power lines being brought down near Morehead Street.
