Southern California man killed after car goes ‘airborne’ in Ohio crash

A man from San Bernardino County is dead after an early morning crash in southern Warren County. KTLA sister station WDTN in Ohio reports that Ohio State Highway Patrol troopers were called July 2 around 2:30 a.m. to I-71 north near mile marker 23 in Deerfield Township. An preliminary investigation by OSP's Lebanon Post found 25-year-old Isaias Zepeda of SanBernardino, was headed north on I-71 in a 2026 Kia K4. OSP believes the Kia went left and off of the interstate, crashing into the concrete bridge overpass. Law enforcement describes Zepeda's vehicle as going "airborne" between the north and south bridge overpasses on I-71. A utility pole was then struck by the vehicle, followed by the Kia landing and ending on Western Row Road. Zepeda was ejected from the vehicle, and died at the scene from sustained injuries. His passenger was taken by ground ambulance to UC West Chester Hospital. Debris from the crash is believed to have caused a secondary crash on the interstate. The deadly crash remains under investigation.
