Firefighters respond to fatal multi-vehicle crash, fires on Fort Argyle Road

SAVANNAH, Ga. (WSAV) — Savannah Fire Department (SFD) crews responded to a multi-vehicle crash and vehicle fires on Fort Argyle Road on Thursday. Crews responded around 3:50 p.m. to the 400 block of Fort Argyle Rd. The fire was declared under control at 4:06 p.m., but emergency vehicles remain on scene. Several people were injured, officials reported. Six people were transported to a local hospital by ambulance, Chatham EMS CEO Chuck Kearns said. A Statesboro man was confirmed to have died on the scene. Chatham County Coroner David Campbell identified him as 74-year-old Willie Roberson. Roberson was driving a tractor trailer, Campell reported.
