South lanes blocked off after tractor-trailer crash on Chesapeake Bay Bridge-Tunnel
VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WAVY) -- South lanes on the Chesapeake Bay Bridge-Tunnel have been blocked off due to a tractor-trailer crash Sunday morning, according to the Chesapeake Bay Bridge and Tunnel District. At around 6:30 a.m. on Feb. 15, a tractor-trailer crashed near the CBBT's North Channel Bridge, going overboard on the west side of the southbound span, which is south of Fisherman's Island. Due to the crash, the facility's guardrails and curbs were damaged. Maintenance crews are now making emergency repairs. The U.S Coast Guard is also assisting in the search. Delays are expected due to the incident. The district anticipates that the southbound lanes will reopen by around 8:45 a.m. This story will be updated as more updates are received.
