Snowstorm in Chicago area causes about 500 highway crashes, according to ISP

The recent snowstorm on Saturday caused significant disruptions for travelers across the Chicago area, including on the local expressways. Illinois State Police reported that from 5 a.m. to 11:30 p.m. on Saturday, troopers in the Chicago region handled 414 crashes with only property damage, as well as 66 crashes involving injuries. Additionally, troopers assisted motorists in 300 incidents. ISP troopers monitor the state's highways. During the snowstorm, approximately one inch of snow fell per hour, with O'Hare International Airport recording a historic snowfall of 8.4 inches, the most in Chicago's November history. This surpassed the previous record of 8 inches set on November 6, 1951.
