Snowmobile crash injures one person in Deerfield
Over the weekend in Deerfield, a snowmobile accident resulted in one person being hospitalized, as reported by Oneida County Sheriffs. The incident occurred on the C7C trail off Brayton Road on Saturday afternoon. Responding officers located the snowmobiler, whose identity was not disclosed by sheriffs, and safely brought them back to the road where they were handed over to paramedics for transportation to Wynn Hospital in Utica for assessment. Fortunately, the individual's injuries were determined to be non-life-threatening. No tickets were given in connection with the accident. Following further investigation, it was discovered that a drainage ditch along the trail had opened due to the warm weather, posing a hazard that was difficult for riders to notice. The Deerfield Snowmobile Club was informed about the situation. The current status of the trail remains uncertain. The New York State Snowmobile Association's Trail Map on their website confirms that Trail C7C was accessible as of Monday. Assisting Oneida County Sheriffs were New York State Police, Deerfield and Newport fire departments, Poland's Kuyahoora Valley Ambulance Corps, and the Oneida County Sheriff's Office's Recreation Unit.
