Snow, hail causes fatal crash that left 1 dead, 3 injured on Oregon highway, OSP say
PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) – A 39-year-old man died after a fatal crash in Clackamas County on Wednesday. Oregon State Police responded to a report about a fatal single-car crash on at 3 p.m. near Highway 26 in Clackamas County near Welches. Authorities said during the investigation, they learned that the vehicle was a white Dodge Ram and Alen Hatunic, 39, was the driver. Authorities said that Hatunic lost control of the vehicle, crossed the roadway, went through a ditch, and crashed head-on into a tree. They add that the road was snowy and covered in hail which they believe may have contributed to the crash. Hatunic was hospitalized with serious injuries. The rear passenger, Nina Westbrook, 34, was pronounced dead at the scene. Another passenger, Eugene Bryce Westbrook, 39, was also hospitalized with serious injuries. Additionally, a two-year-old passenger was taken to the hospital with minor injuries.
