Six workers injured in construction accident at Miami's I-396 bridge site.

Six workers were injured in an accident at the Signature Bridge construction site near Interstate 395 in Miami. The incident occurred late Friday night, when a cap beam on top of a pillar toppled, throwing the workers about 30 feet. One worker was trapped, requiring a Level 1 mass casualty response. Firefighters provided initial treatment and transported five victims, while the Technical Rescue Team used specialized equipment to free the trapped worker. All six workers were taken to hospital, with five in critical condition and one in serious condition. Despite reports of a bridge collapse, the Florida Department of Transportation clarified that the accident did not involve any bridge structure or open roadway. The scene has been cleared and all lanes are now open. FDOT and OSHA are investigating the incident, and a project stand-down has been mandated for internal reviews.
