Single-vehicle crash kills man in Jackson County

LANSING, Mich. (WLNS) — A 22-year-old Grass Lake man was killed when a sedan went off the road and hit multiple trees in Jackson County on Saturday. According to a social media post by Michigan State Police First District, troopers from the Jackson Post were sent near the intersection of Mount Hope Road and Katz Road in Grass Lake Township at around 4:20 a.m. after receiving an iPhone crash detection alert. Troops found a "serious single-vehicle crash" upon arriving at the scene. Police say that the 22-year-old driver was traveling northbound on Mount Hope Road in a white sedan when he lost control of the vehicle. The sedan went off the road and hit multiple trees. The driver was taken to Henry Ford Jackson Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. Police say alcohol and speed are believed to have been contributing factors in the crash.
