Several injured after a multiple-car crash involving Kansas City police officer

KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- A crash involving a Kansas City police officer caused a rollover and multi-vehicle collision Monday morning at a busy south Kansas City intersection. The crash happened at about 11:15 a.m. at Bannister Road and Blue Ridge Boulevard, according to the Kansas City Police Department. Investigators said a Ford Explorer/patrol car was driving east on Bannister Road with emergency lights and sirens on. The officer slowed and entered the intersection when a black Chevrolet Traverse did not stop—and hit the police car on the passenger side. The crash caused the police car to roll over and slide into several cars that were stopped in westbound traffic on Bannister Road. The officer and two people who were in the Chevrolet were taken to the hospital with what KCPD believes are minor injuries.
