Seven Cabins Wildfire linked to deadly plane crash in Lincoln County burns 35 acres
LINCOLN COUNTY, N.M. (KRQE) – A wildfire that sparked in the area of a deadly plane crash in Lincoln County near Capitan on Thursday has grown in size, the U.S. Forest Service confirmed. Initial reports after the plane crash indicated that the fire size was under five acres; however, the fire, now called the Seven Cabins Wildfire, has burned 35 acres in the Capitan Mountain Wilderness area in the Lincoln National Forest. Wildfire details: Four people have died, and a wildfire ignited after a medical transport aircraft crashed in the Capitan Mountain area in Lincoln County on Thursday morning. A King Air plane took off from Roswell for a medical transport mission and was headed to the Sierra Blanca Regional Airport when communication and radar contact were lost. All four people on board, who were employed by Trans Aero Medevac, died; there were no patients on board. Both the crash and the fire are under investigation.
