Serious motorcycle crash in Belmont County turns fatal after rider dies from injuries days later

BELMONT COUNTY, OH (WTRF) - A Belmont County man has died days after a motorcycle crash in Pulney Township, according to the Ohio State Highway Patrol. Troopers said the crash happened May 16 on State Route 7 near milepost 15. Investigators said a 2016 Victory motorcycle driven by 50-year-old Ronald Shaw, of Martins Ferry, was traveling northbound when the motorcycle suffered a rear tire blowout and overturned. Authorities said Melinda Shaw, 40, of Martins Ferry, was riding as a passenger on the motorcycle. Both Ronald and Melinda Shaw suffered serious injuries and were flown to UPMC Hospital in Pittsburgh by STAT MedEvac. Officials said Ronald Shaw died May 20 from injuries sustained in the crash. Troopers also said neither Ronald Shaw nor Melinda Shaw was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash. The crash remains under investigation.
