‘Serious’ crash on I-40 West near Cedar Bluff Road blocks multiple lanes
KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WATE) — All westbound lanes of Interstate 40 near Cedar Bluff Road in Knoxville following a "serious" multivehicle crash on Thursday. The crash was first reported at 4:49 p.m. on the Tennessee Department of Transportation SmartWay Map with four of the five lanes blocked, as well the shoulder on both sides of the roadway. The Knoxville Police Department had urged drivers to seek alternate routes and while emergency personnel responded to the scene. TDOT spokesperson Mark Nagi said that all lanes had reopened around 7:45 p.m. Details on the crash, including the number of people and vehicles involved, were not immediately available.
