Serious crash near Midtown area leaves vehicle mangled

MEMPHIS, Tenn.-- One person was hospitalized after a vehicle struck a pole, splitting it in half near Midtown Tuesday morning. Officers say they responded to the one-vehicle wreck at 6:52 a.m. on Jackson Avenue and Springdale Street. WREG crews took photos of the scene showing the mangled vehicle split in half. The driver was taken to a hospital in critical but stable condition. At this time, it is still unknown how the accident occurred. This story will be updated.
