Semi rollover shuts down I-5 near Flume Creek, delays linger

Southbound Interstate 5 near the Flume Creek Road offramp was reduced to one lane Friday morning after a semi rolled over and blocked traffic, according to CHP logs and Caltrans District 2. The crash was reported around 2:54 a.m. near Exit 720 in Shasta County. CHP logs show the semi initially blocked both southbound lanes, causing traffic to back up for miles near Castella and Castle Creek. CHP first listed the crash as a possible injury collision but later changed it to a no-injury crash. Logs show the driver was taken to Mercy Medical Center Mount Shasta. Caltrans District 2 said traffic control remained in place as of 9:52 a.m., and motorists should expect delays in the area. Crews reopened one lane while working to remove the semi and clear the roadway. -- Report a correction or typo.
