Second pilot in deadly midair crash dies
A tragic midair collision in New Jersey resulted in the death of two experienced helicopter pilots on December 28. The incident occurred shortly after the two Enstrom helicopters, piloted by Kenneth Kirsch and Michael Greenberg, took off from Hammonton Municipal Airport. Their aircrafts crashed in separate locations, with Kirsch's helicopter bursting into flames upon impact. Greenberg was pronounced dead at the scene, while Kirsch was flown to Cooper Trauma Center where he succumbed to his injuries days later. Witnesses reported seeing the helicopters flying closely together before the collision, causing shock and disbelief among onlookers. Both pilots were regulars at a nearby café where they had breakfast together before the tragic flight. Authorities believe the close proximity of the helicopters while flying may have contributed to the accident. Chief Friel mentioned that the pilots were friends who had flown together in the past, making the incident even more tragic.
