Scooter vs car crash claims life of 44-year-old
(COLORADO SPRINGS) — The El Paso County Coroner's Office has identified the victim of a fatal crash that happened on Monday, June 15, near North Circle Drive and East Platte Avenue as 44-year-old Bethany Selby. On Monday, at around 12:45 p.m., officers from the Colorado Springs Police Department (CSPD) were called to a vehicle vs scooter crash near the 400 block of N. Circle Dr. The driver of the scooter was taken to the hospital, but despite lifesaving efforts, the scooter rider succumbed to their injuries. On Tuesday, June 16, the El Paso County Coroner's Office identified the rider as Selby. CSPD's Major Crash Team responded to take over the investigation. As of Wednesday, June 24, speed and alcohol are not being considered factors in the crash. The driver of the car immediately stopped, remained on scene, and cooperated fully with the investigation. Selby is the 28th traffic fatality in Colorado Springs in 2026. CSPD said as of this time last year, there were 18 fatalities.
