School bus rollover closes part of US 67 near White Hall

WHITE HALL — Emergency crews are at the scene of an accident involving a school bus going off U.S. 67 and rolling over south of White Hall. Greene County Sheriff Rob McMillen said a North Greene School District bus overturned south of NE 400 Street about 3:42 p.m. Wednesday. One student had to be extricated from the bus by Carrollton firefighters, but the driver and all other students and staff on board were able to exit the bus. Several passengers were injured, however none appeared to have suffered life-threatening injuries, McMillen said. According to a message sent to parents, several students were taken to the hospital as a precautionary measure. The road remained closed about 6 p.m. Crews from Carrollton Fire Department, Winchester EMS, White Hall Police and the Greene County Sheriff Department were still on scene. Illinois State Police is handling the investigation. Journal-Courier staff writer Ben Singson contributed to this article.
