Rollover crash leads to fatal auto-pedestrian incident in Sebastian: DPS

SEBASTIAN, Texas (ValleyCentral) — An SUV rollover led to a fatal auto-pedestrian crash involving a Chevrolet towing a vehicle, according to the Texas Department of Public Safety. As previously reported on ValleyCentral, at approximately 12:17 p.m. on Saturday, DPS troopers responded to a crash on IH-69E southbound south of Mile Post 37, south of Sebastian. A preliminary investigation revealed that a black Nissan Altima and a Chevrolet Suburban towing a Honda Pilot were going southbound on IH-69E. According to a DPS news release, traffic had slowed due to a rollover accident involving a gray SUV that was blocking the lanes. DPS said the driver of the Chevrolet attempted to slow down, lost control, and crashed into the Nissan Altima. This impact caused the Chevrolet to veer off the roadway into a ditch, hit a man who was standing nearby, according to the release. DPS identified the man as 33 year old Juan Hernandez of Lyford. Hernandez was transported to Valley Baptist Medical Center, where he died from his injuries.
