BARABOO, Wis. (WFRV) -- 30-year-old Audrie Pelosi, a local rock climbing guide at Devil's Lake State Park, died in a tragic accident this past weekend. The Friends of Devil's Lake State Park, a group adjacent to the park known for their support of the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources, described her in their tribute Facebook post as a "climber, outdoor enthusiast, kind soul, nature lover, and community member". "We are shocked and saddened, and we are sending our deepest condolences to her family, friends, colleagues, neighbors, and climbing community," the post said. No information was released regarding the specific cause of death, but her obituary mentioned it as a "tragic climbing accident". "She was a lover, not a fighter, a climber, not a whiner, one tough adventure chick," her obituary reads, revealing locals dubbed her a "Baraboo Celebrity" due to her infectious personality and deep involvement in the community. From Duluth, Minnesota, Pelosi moved to Baraboo after meeting and marrying her husband in 2023. She worked with several organizations, including Wildside Action Sports, Downtown Baraboo Inc., Bella Vita Coffee, and Apex Adventure Alliance, according to her obituary . The Devil's Lake State Park Facebook encourages those who wish to pay their respects to head to Wildside Action Sports, who are collecting stories and pictures of Audrie to create a memorial in the store in her memory.
