Road rage incident in Garfield Ridge includes axe throwing and car theft
A dramatic and alarming incident of road rage recently became widely known, involving the unlawful display of an axe and a case of car theft. Real estate agents Tom Cunningham and Ewelina Siuta found themselves in the midst of the chaos on a Monday afternoon. Cunningham likened the situation to a comedic movie scenario but quickly realized the seriousness of the situation. Siuta described how the conflict unfolded between a pickup truck and a white car on Archer Avenue. She recounted the aggressive behavior of the pickup truck driver, who threatened the other driver and then proceeded to physically attack the white car. Cunningham promptly contacted the authorities to report the escalating altercation. Video footage captured moments of intense confrontation, including the pickup truck driver striking the white car with a metal object and the white car driver throwing an axe before ultimately fleeing the scene in the stolen pickup truck. Despite the chaos, both Cunningham and Siuta expressed shock and disappointment at the unnecessary violence they witnessed. Law enforcement officers responded to the scene to address the reported criminal damages and injuries. While considering intervening, Cunningham contemplated diffusing the situation by appealing to the drivers' sense of holiday spirit, but ultimately decided against it due to the escalating violence. At the time of reporting, the Chicago police had not provided updates on any arrests made connected to the incident.
