Riviera Beach woman struck, killed while crossing Broadway
Several blocks of Broadway were shut down Saturday night after a Riviera Beach woman was struck and killed by a car while crossing the roadway. Police say the crash happened at 6:29 p.m. in the 3100 block of Broadway Avenue, where Riviera Beach Fire Rescue and police responded to reports of a pedestrian struck. Investigators with the Riviera Beach Police Department say they determined 37-year-old Yusdelaisy Mendez Rivero was crossing Broadway from east to west when she was hit by a northbound 2005 Cadillac SRX. The driver, 50-year-old Theodore Hinson, also of Riviera Beach, reportedly remained at the scene. He was the only person in the vehicle and was not injured. Both northbound and southbound lanes of Broadway were shut down from the 2900 to 3200 blocks as traffic homicide investigators worked the scene. Officials say no charges are pending at this time, and the investigation remains ongoing. Anyone who witnessed the crash or has information is asked to contact Officer Jeffrey Barker at 561-845-4123. Police noted that this is the first deadly crash of 2026 for the city.
