Riley County Police Access Emergency Accident Reporting
Following heavy snowfall in northeast Kansas resulting in accumulations ranging from two to four inches, the Riley County Police Department (RCPD) has implemented an emergency accident reporting protocol. During this phase, RCPD will exclusively respond to accidents involving injuries, incidents causing over $1,000 in property damage, hit-and-runs, and incidents indicating possible impairment from drugs or alcohol. RCPD has specified that crashes must be reported within 48 hours and can be done in person at their location on 1001 S Seth Child Road. The National Weather Service (NOAA) in Topeka has issued a winter weather advisory until 6 p.m. for most of Northeast Kansas, warning drivers of treacherous road conditions. Motorists are advised to slow down and exercise caution while driving.
