Rescue of Driver from Burning Vehicle on Tomball Parkway
A video has been released showing a Harris County deputy saving a man trapped in a burning vehicle following a wrong-way crash on Tomball Parkway. The incident occurred early on Saturday morning when the Sheriff's Office received a report of a collision on State Highway 249. Tragically, the wrong-way driver involved was pronounced dead at the scene, but Deputy John Syzdek and Sergeant Jonathan Tirk, along with assistance from Precision Towing, managed to rescue the driver of the other vehicle. The rescued driver is currently in a critical but stable condition in the hospital. The Sheriff revealed that the wrong-way driver, identified as Julio Alberto Calero Ramirez, was driving in the opposite direction when the collision occurred, resulting in one vehicle catching fire. While Ramirez did not survive the crash, thanks to the quick actions of the deputies and tow truck operators, the second driver was successfully rescued. The deputies sustained minor injuries during the rescue but were treated at the scene and did not require hospitalization.
