Reported wrong-way crash involving tractor-trailer on I-70
A car traveling the wrong way on I-70 crashed into a tractor-trailer, causing the vehicle to catch fire and leading to a major traffic backup, according to 911 dispatchers. The west and eastbound lanes are closed between the New Stanton Hunker exit and the Madison exit in Westmoreland County. Viewer video shows several first responders on scene. Several tractor-trailers are at a standstill and are waiting for the crash to clear.According to Pennsylvania State Police, someone was driving the wrong way before the crash happened just before 1:00 a.m. The driver of the SUV is being treated at a local hospital. Investigators are still working to determine the exact amount of vehicles involved.Several cars and trucks are making U-turns to find alternative routes due to the crash.A post on social media from the Fort Allen Volunteer Fire Company says when their engine arrived, one of the semi trucks involved appeared to be hauling produce.
