Report: Employee killed in industrial accident at Ford facility in Ohio

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — An employee at a Ford Motor Company plant in Ohio has reportedly died after an industrial accident. News 8 NBC affiliate WLWT-TV reports the incident happened Monday morning at the facility in Sharonville, Ohio. The worker has been identified as 64-year-old Gregory Knopf. Investigators say Knopf was doing routine maintenance on a press machine when it was inadvertently turned on, pinning him. Knopf was freed from the machine and rushed to a nearby hospital where he was pronounced dead. Investigators say there were multiple witnesses to the incident and that all signs point to this being an accident. An obituary for Knopf says he is survived by his wife of 39 years, three children and eight grandchildren. A visitation and funeral service will be held Friday. Ford has yet to publicly comment on the incident.
