Prince George crash that killed 22-year-old woman involves cell phone use, police say
PRINCE GEORGE COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) — Cell phone use was a contributing factor in a two-vehicle crash that killed a 22-year-old woman in Prince George County last week, authorities said. First responders were called to the crash at around 12:18 p.m. on Thursday, May 28, in the 4100 block of Ruffin Road, where one person was trapped and another had minor injuries. The incident involved an SUV and a fully loaded logging truck. When authorities arrived at the scene, they worked to remove the driver of the SUV -- who has since been identified as 22-year-old Kendall Garzini of Prince George -- from entrapment. She was taken to a nearby hospital, where she later died from her injuries. The driver of the logging truck, who had minor injuries, was evaluated on scene and did not require transport. Prince George Police on Friday said they have determined that Garzini was at fault in the deadly incident, and that cell phone use was found to be a contributing factor after their investigation. Authorities offered their condolences to families and those impacted in the crash.
