Portion of I-70 closed in Independence after multi-vehicle crash
A portion of Interstate 70 is back open after a crash involving multiple vehicles shut it down earlier Wednesday. The Independence Police Department said eastbound I-70 was closed at MO-291 around 1:30 p.m. Traffic was significantly backed up in both eastbound lanes. The interstate was cleared around an hour later. The Accident Investigation Unit is in charge of the case.
