Pomona pursuit crash ends with 2 innocent motorists killed

Two unsuspecting motorists were killed when their vehicle was struck by a driver fleeing from police in Pomona Wednesday night. The pickup truck being chased by officers was traveling southbound on Garey Avenue near County Road when it slammed into a sedan around 10:15 p.m. Two people inside the sedan were pronounced dead at the scene, according to news video service KNN. A yellow tarp was seen draped over the mangled vehicle as police conducted their investigation. No information has been released regarding the identities of the victims. Video from the scene showed a person believed to be the suspect being taken into custody following the crash. It remained unclear what prompted officers to try to stop the pickup truck or why the driver fled. Garey Avenue was closed in both directions through the area during the investigation. On Monday, a woman was killed when a driver in a stolen U-Haul crashed into her SUV while trying to evade deputies in San Clemente. The victim was identified by authorities as 53-year-old Maria Ramirezahmad of Anaheim. Three adult females in the SUV were all transported in critical condition.
