Police investigating motorcycle crash on Federal Hill
PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI) — Providence police are investigating a motorcycle crash that happened late Saturday night on Federal Hill. Police said the motorcyclist lost control after riding through traffic control barricades on Atwells Avenue around 11:45 p.m. "All of a sudden, we saw this bike flying through and this man, 60 years old, the bike crashed on him and he fell down and it took him like 35 minutes before he could get up," Opa Restaurant Owner Joseph Karam said. "They couldn't bring an ambulance. Nothing. It took like 25 to 30 minutes. And it's so sad that this is happening on the Hill." The Hill was celebrating the Feast of Saint Joseph when the crash occurred. The operator, who has not been identified, was taken to Rhode Island Hospital with minor injuries. "As the investigation is ongoing, we are still reviewing all aspects of the incident, including reports that an object may have been thrown," police said. "Any potential criminal conduct identified during the investigation will be addressed appropriately." Multiple traffic summonses were issued against the operator, but the spokesperson told 12 News the incident remains under investigation.
