Police investigate early morning fatal crash on I-435
KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Just after 3:30 a.m. the Overland Park Police were called to investigate a crash in the eastbound lanes of I-435 at Quivira. When they arrived on the scene, they found a victim lying in the eastbound lanes of the highway. The initial investigation revealed that a vehicle was exiting northbound I-35 to eastbound I-435. As the driver merged onto 435 the driver began changing lanes to the left. After entering the left lane the driver struck a pedestrian who was walking westbound in the lane of traffic. The victim was also struck by a second vehicle. The pedestrian died at the scene of the crash. Both drivers remained at the scene and are cooperating with the investigation.
