Police investigate deadly crash with shots fired in Simi Valley

Police are investigating a police chase that ended with a fatal crash involving a pickup truck and what appears to be a police motorcycle and shots fired in a Simi Valley neighborhood Tuesday afternoon. The crash was reported in the 2500 block of Dusan Street, south of Sycamore Drive. Sky5's Gil Leyvas was over the scene at 4 p.m., where a motorcycle could be seen on its side next to a white pickup truck that sustained front-end damage. The truck also appeared to have bullet holes in the windshield. A SWAT vehicle was stationed directly next to the truck. A body could also be seen covered with a white sheet near the crash site. It all started with a police pursuit that came to end when the pickup truck driven by the suspect crashed into the motorcycle and shots were fired. One resident reported hearing the gunshots. It's unknown if any officers were injured in the incident. Residents were told to avoid the area until further notice. It's unknown at this time what prompted the police chase.
