Police investigate after car crashes into Portage Park cafe
CHICAGO — Police are searching for answers on Thursday morning after a car crashed into a cafe on the city's Northwest Side. The crash unfolded at the City News Cafe, located in the 4000 block of North Cicero Avenue, in Portage Park, though it is unclear what time it occurred. Police have not yet provided details on the crash, but SkyCam 9 was over the scene around 6:50 a.m. when officers could be spotted walking around the badly damaged cafe. Nearby the business, a badly damaged black car could be spotted from overhead. Currently, it is unclear what led to the crash or if anyone was injured. Because of the crash, crews have shut down the southbound lanes of Cicero between West Belle Plaine Avenue and West Irving Park Road. It remains unclear how long the closure will remain in place.
