Police identify woman killed in Route 44 crash in Taunton
A woman was killed in a Monday morning crash on Route 44 in Taunton, according to the Bristol County District Attorney’s Office. The Taunton Police Department responded around 10:10 a.m. on Monday to Route 44 after multiple 911 calls about the crash. Officers found a BMW with “catastrophic damage” on the driver’s side. The driver was found outside of the vehicle with traumatic injuries. The driver, 44-year-old Ivonne Caicedo Gallego of Taunton, was found outside of the vehicle with traumatic injuries. The male driver and a female passenger were transported to Rhode Island Hospital for treatment. Their injuries were described as non-life-threatening. A black semi-truck was struck, and two other vehicles suffered minor damage, according to the department. The crash is still under investigation.
