Police: Driver ‘fine’ after crash sends car hanging off side of interstate in Charleston
CHARLESTON, W.Va. (WOWK) - Crews have cleared the scene after a crash sent a vehicle hanging from the side of the interstate in Charleston. There is no word yet on how the crash happened. The Charleston Police Department tells WOWK 13 News the driver is "fine" and was the only person in the car. Kanawha County Metro 911 dispatchers say the call came in just before 5 p.m. Friday. According to West Virginia 511 cameras, the vehicle was on the concrete barrier near the I-64/I-77 split, or near mile-marker 58 near Bigley Avenue. On the WV 511 traffic camera it appeared the vehicle was leaning against the overhead traffic sign. According to dispatchers, was down to one lane at the scene. West Virginia 511 cameras are showing a back up on I-64 to the Patrick Street Bridge. This is a developing story, and WOWK 13 News will update you on air and online as we learn more details.
