Pinellas driver charged in fatal crash with bicyclist, say troopers

A Seminole man was taken into custody after fleeing from an accident that resulted in the death of a bicyclist in Pinellas County early on Thursday, as per troopers. The victim, a 64-year-old gentleman from Naples, was cycling along Bay Pines Boulevard at 2:45 a.m. with a small trailer loaded with tree branches, according to a press release by the Florida Highway Patrol. Dominic Boeing, aged 22, was driving a Kia Optima towards the north on Bay Pines Boulevard when he collided with the bicyclist north of Seahorse Drive, the statement reveals. The bicyclist was rushed to a nearby medical center, where he succumbed to his injuries. Boeing reportedly left the scene and drove to his residence in Seminole, from where he informed authorities about the incident. Subsequently, troopers apprehended him on a charge of fleeing the scene of a deadly crash, classified as a first-degree felony. Public records indicate that Boeing was detained at the Pinellas County Jail without bail on Thursday. Judicial records indicate that he has accumulated 12 traffic-related citations in Pinellas County since 2021, encompassing occurrences of speeding, reckless driving, and operating a vehicle in an unsafe manner.
