Pickup truck overturns, causing deadly Friday crash on I-44
CRAWFORD COUNTY, Mo. -- A 64-year-old woman died Friday night after a pickup crossed the median on Interstate 44 in Crawford County and overturned into eastbound traffic, triggering a three-vehicle crash. The crash happened about 9:45 p.m. on eastbound I-44 near the 218-mile marker, according to the Missouri State Highway Patrol. Troopers said a 2022 Ram 2500 traveled off the left side of the westbound lanes, struck a cable barrier and overturned into the eastbound lanes. A 2006 Ford Taurus then struck the pickup, causing the Taurus to hit a 2022 Toyota Highlander. The woman who died was a passenger in the Taurus. The Taurus driver, a 56-year-old St. James woman, and a 64-year-old male passenger from St. Robert suffered serious injuries. Ambulances took both to Mercy Creve Coeur. All three vehicles were damaged. Troopers towed the Taurus and Ram from the scene.
