Pickup truck driver charged after Hope Mills biker killed in Fayetteville crash on King Road, police say

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. (WNCN) -- A Fayetteville man is facing a death by motor vehicle charge after a crash Wednesday night killed a Hope Mills motorcyclist in southwest Fayetteville, police said. The wreck was reported just before 9:20 p.m. along King Road at Windfall Lane, which is near Lakewood Drive, according to a Fayetteville Police Department news release. Daniel Zachery Vanherpen, 38, of Hope Mills, who was riding a 2009 Yamaha motorcycle, was taken to Cape Fear Valley Medical Center, where he died, police said. The crash happened when the driver of a 2019 Chevrolet Silverado made a left turn into the path of the motorcyclist, according to the news release. Dale Bradley White, 62, who was driving the Chevrolet Silverado, was charged with unsafe movement causing serious injury to a motorcyclist and misdemeanor death by motor vehicle. White is currently being held at the Cumberland County Detention Center under a $275,000 secure bond. Police said anyone with information about the crash should contact Detective C.
