Pick-up driver killed after hitting pole in northwest Las Vegas

LAS VEGAS (KLAS) -- One person is dead following a single-vehicle crash in the far northwest valley, according to Las Vegas Metro police. The crash occurred around 9:22 p.m. on Wednesday, May 13, at Iron Mountain Road and Jones Boulevard. Police said evidence showed a Ford F-150 was driving north on Jones Boulevard when, for unknown reasons, it crossed into the southbound lanes, drifted into the west curb, and onto the sidewalk. The Ford then hit a metal light, "elevated compacted dirt," and a chain link fence before stopping. The driver of the Ford, later identified as Gilbert Joseph, Jr., 68, died in the crash, police said. His death marks the 45th traffic-related fatality in the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department's jurisdiction in 2026. The intersection was closed while the crash was under investigation.
