SAUGERTIES — One man was killed and six people were injured Sunday night in a wrong-way Thruway crash, State Police said. A car driving south in the northbound lanes on I-87 between exits 19 and 20 struck three other vehicles shortly after 9 p.m., police said in a statement. The force of the crash ejected the driver, Joseph Mensah-Otoo, from his car, police said. First responders pronounced the 42-year-old Pittsfield, Mass., resident dead at the scene. Six drivers and passengers in the other vehicles were injured, including three teens. Paramedics transported the victims to HealthAlliance Hospital in Kingston with non-life-threatening injuries, police said. Police did not say what caused the crash or how Mensah-Otoo began driving in the wrong direction.
