Person killed in wrong-way All American Freeway crash identified, charges pending, Fayetteville police say

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. (WNCN) — The Fayetteville Police Department have identified the person killed in a crash on All American Freeway late Monday night and have determined that it was caused by a wrong-way driver. According to Fayetteville police, their initial investigation shows that a 2017 Mercedes-Benz C300, a two-door car, was driving south on the northbound side on the All American Freeway. "The Mercedes-Benz was being driven with the headlamps off, but occasionally turned on, while traveling on the roadway," police said. The car then hit a 2020 Volvo XC90 SUV head-on, according to police. Two people were in each of the vehicles. Police identified the driver of the Mercedes-Benz driving the wrong direction as 32-year-old Joelle Danielle Sage Outlaw of Hope Mills. The passenger in the car, 31-year-old Nealon Alan McNair, was pronounced dead at the scene, according to Fayetteville police. Outlaw and the two women in the Volvo SUV were all taken to Cape Fear Valley Medical Center in serious condition. The Fayetteville Police Department said criminal charges are pending against Outlaw dependent on her release from the hospital and medical clearance. Investigators are continuing to look into the crash. Anyone who may have seen the crash occur or who has information that could help investigators is asked to call Detective J.
