Person killed in St. Tammany Parish car crash

COVINGTON, La. (WGNO) — A person is dead following a car crash near Covington Saturday, March 28. According to the St. Tammany Parish Sheriff's Office, deputies were sent around 8:30 p.m. to the scene of a crash on Oaklawn Drive near Pine Crest Drive in the Tchefuncta Club Estates neighborhood. They found an SUV that had gone off the road, entered a ditch, struck a tree and caught on fire. The driver was dead at the scene. The body was turned over to the St. Tammany Parish Coroner's office for identification.
